Boarding Program Information

The TWS Boarding Program is available exclusively to international Waldorf high school students, who are in Grade 9, 10 or 11.

***Please ensure that you are aware of current federal travel regulations as frequent changes to these regulations are possible. You can take the questionnaire at the link below to find out what you need to do. Be sure to indicate that you are a foreign national, are younger than 18 years of age, and that you are an international student.

Step 1: Application

1. Complete the  Application Form BD.EX 2022, including the Math, English and Class Teacher references.If you are staying in Canada for less than 6 months, you do not need a VISA. You will need to get an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). You can apply for one here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta/apply1.html
2. Send an introductory, autobiographical letter in English written by the student. Include some photos of the student, their family, home, city and school.
3. Provide a copy of the student’s most recent report card, preferably in English.

All applications will be reviewed by TWS High School Faculty, and the Boarding & Exchange Coordinator will contact you with the decision via email.

All families are responsible for inquiring with their local Canadian Embassy about VISA requirements.

Step 2: Acceptance

1. Once the application to board has been accepted, the Boarding & Exchange Coordinator will send you the contract specifying the dates, fees and payment options.
2. All tuition fee payments must be made by wire transfer. You will receive a document with the banking details.
3. Upon receipt of the signed contract and payment, and if required to obtain a Student Visa, you may request a school confirmation letter.
4. Additional required documents will be sent to you with the contract:
   1. High School Handbook
   2. Medical Information Form
   3. Custodian Declaration for minors studying in Canada, which will need to be notarized.

Additional Costs

• Out-of-country medical insurance must be purchased by the student and a copy provided to the school prior to the student’s arrival.
• A cash deposit for textbooks and locker rental will be charged and refunded upon departure.
• Boarding students may also be required to purchase a gym uniform.
• Additional personal money is needed for transportation (except for transportation to and from school) and leisure activities.

2025-26 Suggested Homestay Fees

Homestay fees help the host family cover costs associated with having an extra person in the house.  All homestay fee payment arrangements are made directly with the host family. TWS does not make homestay arrangements or make recommendations for hosts; families are responsible for finding their own boarding accommodations.

• Transportation costs to and from school are covered by the homestay fees.
• All leisure activities and associated transportation costs are to be paid for by the student.
