Camp Director

PURPOSE/SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The Camp Director provides leadership and administrative organization to the TWS Camp. This includes staffing, registration/enrolment, development, and facility management in partnership with the administration of the school. The Camp Director will ensure the mission, values and overall professional standards established at the Toronto Waldorf School are upheld in all aspects of the camp. The Camp Director will continuously explore how the camp can reflect the ideals of Waldorf education. The primary reporting relationship is to the Human Resources Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Overall management of the TWS Camp

· Responsibility for any parent questions and concerns, all camper and staff health and safety, all emergency procedures

· Responsibility and management of any emergency situation that may arise

· Development of marketing for camp in conjunction with Director of Admissions and Marketing

· Recruitment of all camp staff in conjunction with Human Resources Manager

· Preparation of yearly budget forecast for camp with Business Office

· Preparation of budget review post-camp and overall review with learning and recommendations for the following year with Administration

· Development of all camp forms in conjunction with Director of Admissions and Marketing and Business Office

· Administration of registration and enrollment in conjunction Business Office

· Support and coordination of training of all camp staff, including health and safety, professional practices, emergency procedures and parent relations pertaining to enrollment with Human Resources Manager

· Coordination of transportation and forms for off-site programming

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

· Experience in a leadership role at a camp or school, involving program development, staffing, policy work, and parent communication

· Excellent administrative skills

· Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

· A demonstrated leadership history of building capability, supporting and developing the people on their team

· A demonstrated capability in sound judgment and decision-making

· A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to working within the ideals of anthroposophy and Waldorf education
