About our School

Toronto Waldorf School, founded in 1968, serves over 350 students and their parents from birth through Grade 12. We are located just north of Toronto, Ontario on about 18 acres including a large wooded area and a section of protected ecological ravine. We serve a diverse multicultural community. Our unique building was designed to be a Waldorf school from the ground up. We have a large and dynamic faculty and staff, with a diverse mix of experience and backgrounds. Several of our neighbours include: an anthroposophically-based residence for seniors, medical practice, and the Rudolf Steiner Centre for adult education. Our school is accredited by AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and we offer an Ontario Ministry of Education High School Graduation Diploma which enables University and College entrance, along with our Waldorf Diploma in Grade 12.

Job Summary

The Toronto Waldorf School is hiring for an Art Teacher in the high school and middle school. The successful candidate must be able to work with children of all ages, and will cover a robust artist program

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-Teach grade 6 – 12 art
-Teach art history and theory in the high school
-Teach Grade 11 and 12 pre-university art courses
-Organization, and handling of logistics and execution of artistic exhibits and events throughout the school year
-Purchasing of art materials for grades 1 – 12

Required Qualifications

-Waldorf Teaching qualification or willingness to learn
-Experience in art instruction
-Strong communication and collaboration skills
-Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

-Fine Arts degree
-B Ed. with art as a teachable subject, ideally Intermediate/Senior qualifications
-Diverse experience and proficiency in art
-Working knowledge of art history and theory
-Experience preparing exhibits and organizing artist work
-Knowledge of child development at each level of instruction

Compensation

Salary is determined based on years of experience and qualifications.
