After School Program Teacher
Part-time
Starting September 2023
Toronto Waldorf School is looking for a teacher to lead the After School Care Program for the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking for someone willing to learn and grow with us in this program.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the After School Program for children ages 6 to 13 (Grades 1 through 7).
- Co-ordinate the program including snack, play, homework, crafts etc.
- Monitor attendance and administrative requirements including changes daily, through phone messages.
- Supervise the children from 3:30 until 6:00 each day
- Facilitate pick-up of children by parents; remain until all are collected. Record late pick-up times so that business office can collect funds.
- Consult with other teachers as necessary on an informal basis.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Waldorf Teacher Education certification or accepted equivalent experience.
- Experience creating a multi-age group environment in which the children can flourish.
- Specialized training and/or experience in Extended Care programs would be an asset.
- An understanding of child development from an anthroposophical point of view.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with an approachable manner towards parents and colleagues.
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with the support teachers, other colleagues and the parent community.
- John Ambulance Standard First Aid training or equivalent.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION:
This position is a one-year contract position from September 5, 2023 to June 14, 2024. This position will be an hourly position in the range of $30 per hour, based on experience.
